I’m really hoping it’s non-canon but there are so many hints in the game, plus the achievement, that make it seem canon… Maybe I just don’t hate him because my girlfriend is so happy that he is a sinning youth minister who might actually be an ocultist (she has a sinner priest kink, I accept her for her flaws ;P). Also, the cult leader theory is actually exciting for me? Some of these stories are cute, I’m happy to know that there is a ACTUAL bad ending and not just ‘oh, you didn’t get to be forever happy with the guy you wanted’. I was doing research for another article that I had to write when I stumbled upon Dream Daddyagain . I clicked on a let’s play for Dream Daddy and saw my future husband – Craig Cahn. Was just bizarre – not worth playing but definitely worth looking into for its sheer absurdity.

Joseph’s first date is my favorite of all the dates in the game. And I actually really liked his daughter and the interactions with her. Idk I still don’t find him to be THAT bad of a guy. YES, he should leave the relationship if he isn’t happy.
The tracks are could but it would have been nice to hear some variation. Although the Dream Daddymain theme is amazing, as dreamy and charming as the dads. While there are many possible relationships with dashingly good-looking dads, there’s an additional relationship that you have to foster – the one with your daughter, Amanda.

In the end, most of the success or failure of each date will come down to picking the best dialogue responses. A good response will net you an explosion of hearts (and eggplant emoji, if you’re amazing). A bad response is indicated by a puff of black clouds from your dad date. But even if you say all the right things, you’re not guaranteed a happy finale; some stories are just meant to end on a melancholy note. Instead what developer Game Grumps delivered is a game that actually fleshes out its characters, treats their problems with respect and is genuinely funny to boot. Dream Daddy isn’t just the same “fuck me, Daddy,” joke over and over.

Finishing all three dates with any dad takes forty five minutes to two hours, again depending on your reading speed. So, while it took me just six hours in total to date each and every dad, it may take upwards of fifteen hours for other folks to complete. Despite the simple scheme for selecting a dad route, there’s still room for confusion. One early issue for me was determining the difference between good answers and great answers to dialogue choices. For example, some answers make hearts come out of a character. Another answer results in hearts, sweat drops and, oddly enough, eggplants flying out.
Dates themselves often feel like they’re on fast forward. Somehow, after just that small amount of time, a real relationship suddenly develops and it feels like we’ve completely missed out on huge parts of it. At the end, no matter who you choose, a similar sort of ending plays out. It is wonderfully put together, from the art to the music to the coloring to the minigames to the ingenious writing and story telling. This game is an amazingly immersive tale about love and family and hardship and it honestly makes me want to be a better person.
