She’s the person I felt the most joy for in this episode and I’m so glad that her, Gi Tae’s grandma & aunt, and Jang Mi’s mom worked things out. I love watching actors grow role by role, and these two had such a fantastically timed growth spurt in the same drama opposite one another. I can’t wait to see where they go from here.
As far as the lawyer husband goes, I can see why he cheated on the DJ wife and got the mistress pregnant (assuming the mistress will still be pregnant by the next episode). Seems like the lawyer husband wants kids and the wife doesn’t. No comment on the doctor husband because I am still trying to figure it out lol. In intermittent scenes, Toby moves out and they begin divorce mediation. One night, Toby brings the kids home, asleep. Jack wakes and joyfully says, “you’re both here.” Toby then suggests he and Kate stop the divorce.
Marriage Not Dating: Episode 16 (Final)
I’d say the reason why Gi Tae is so marriage-phobic is that he grew up watching his parent’s deteriorating marriage and decided that love and marriage don’t last and that he’ll never get married. On the other hand, Jang Mi’s desire to get married is probably because she wants to build a marriage that is completely the opposite of her parents. This is why the two of them are so compatible, one doesn’t believe that marriage works while the other will do anything to make her marriage perfect. Jang Mi gets taken to the police office where she’s falling asleep and yells drunken remarks to all of the polices officers questions. Sitting next to her is Gi Tae, who’s there since he was a victim to her little bottle tirade. She only realizes that she stalked did in fact stalked Hoon Dong when the only person that agrees with her is a man at the police station, in for molesting his colleague.
This is the first time I’ve seen Americans being mentioned in a kdrama where somebody actually says “not all Americans are super free-spirited” lol. Also, no SLS for this show but I do feel really bad for Han Yeo Reum after those last two eps. A perfect man, Kong Ki-Tae (Yeon https://loveexamined.net/ Woo-Jin), is forced to marry by his family, but he doesn’t to marry. To make his family give up, he introduces a woman, Joo Jang-Mi (Han Groo), to them that they would never accept. I really started hating Se-ah somewhere in the middle, but I’m glad she was redeemed quickly. While I know a majority of you guys felt her character changed too abruptly, I think her main personality remained the same. She was still controlling but maybe focused on another target – first it was to get Ki-tae back, then it was to make Ki-tae’s life perfect. I’m glad she got her happy ending even if I really expected the father of the child to be Yeo-rim.

The Forbidden Marriage
Having put the restaurant up for sale, Jang-mi’s dad is pretty drunk on soju by the time they find him, and he roars at Ki-tae for having the nerve to show up here. Ki-tae stammers that he’s dating Jang-mi, which enrages Dad even further, and he shoves Ki-tae against the wall yelling at him for hanging around his daughter but not intending to marry her. In the present, business is bustling again at “Ju Jang-mi” thanks to Ki-tae’s mother’s kimchi, and Jang-mi, Hyun-hee, and Yeo-reum are on top of the world.
I couldn’t figure out what her end game was, and her actions seemed at odds with what she claimed to want. And while she was shown feeling guilt over deceiving our king earlier, it didn’t seem to factor into her decision to get in a relationship with him at all. I said this last week too, but as a result the developing romance made me uncomfortable. Plus while our leads have great camaraderie and play off each other well in the comedic scenes, I feel like their romantic chemistry is just so-so. (Although, I would die if that happened to me.) Usually, guests wait until after they get some alcohol in their system before they create a scene at your wedding, but nope, this was all sober. At least the busybody Gong ladies now know about Dad’s infidelity.
